The Brookings Police Department is investigating a vehicle vs. pedestrian hit and run accident that occurred sometime between 12:17AM-12:40AM on Sunday June 28th, 2020, in the 100 block of 6th Avenue under the viaduct.
A 20 year old male Brookings resident was found by a passerby laying under the viaduct with serious non life threatening injuries. The male was life flighted to Sioux Falls for his injuries. Video surveillance was obtained from the area and a larger white SUV, possibly a Chevy Tahoe or Chevy Suburban style vehicle, was seen driving through the area around the time of the incident.

On Tuesday, April 28th, 2020, at approximately 6AM, Brookings Police received reports of several rail cars that had been blocking the intersection in the 100 block of Main Avenue South for several hours. After an investigation it was discovered that an unknown person(s) tampered with the rail cars causing them to roll into the intersection.

On Tuesday, March 17th, 2020, the pictured male entered a store in the 2400 block of 6th Street and stole tools valued over $500. An employee saw the male get into the passenger's side of the pictured gray truck with JR Auto dealer plates.

On Tuesday, March 10th, 2020, the Brookings County Sheriff's Department took a report of a burglary from the County Highway shop in Bruce, SD.
Sometime between Monday March 9th, 2020, and Tuesday, March 10th, 2020, an unknown suspect forced entry through a door causing damage. It was found a 10 drawer tool box, wrenches, a pry bar set, and other hand tools were taken. It is estimated the total loss is approximately $5,300.
