On Sunday, October 30, 2022, the Brookings Police Department took a report of Intentional Damage to Property in the 1500 block of 8th Street South. It is believed that on the evening of October 29th, 2022, an individual(s) snapped off four smaller pine trees that run along the sidewalk on the south side of the road. The victim and owner of the trees is offering a cash reward of $2,000 for information leading to the ARREST and CONVICTION of the individual(s) responsible for the intentional damage to the trees. This reward is above any reward offered by Crimes Stoppers.

*****STOLEN CAMPER*****
October 29, 2022
On Monday, October 31st, 2022, at 1430 hours, the Brookings Police Department took a report of a stolen camper from a storage complex in the 1600 block of Western Avenue in Brookings, SD. Upon reviewing surveillance video, it was determined that at on Saturday, October 29th, at 1135 hours, a whitish/grey early 2000s GMC Sierra Extended Cab pickup with Billion dealership plates enters the storage complex and steals a white 2007 Dutchman Aerolite Cub with South Dakota trailer plates. The GMC pickup appears to have a different colored roof and a whitish grill. Surveillance video shows the suspect appears to be a white male by himself. The Billion dealerships were contacted and they can’t find any records of selling this type of pickup in the past so the suspect could have used the dealership plates as a disguise.

Over the past year there have been several incidents reported of lug nuts being tampered with and loosened. It is believed some of these have occurred within the City of Volga. The City of Volga has authorized a $1,000 reward for information leading to the CONVICTION of the person(s) responsible for tampering with lug nuts in Volga. This reward is above any reward offered by Crimes Stoppers.

Sometime between July 11th, 2022 and July 30th, 2022, an unknown person stole a 1995 Honda outboard boat motor from a boat in the 200 block of Railroad Street in Brookings. The estimated value of the motor is approximately $3,000.

On Saturday, March 19th, 2022, the Brookings Police Department took a report of a burglary that occurred at Pioneer Park. An unknown individual(s) broke out a window on the Pioneer Cabin and stole two old books and an iron press. At this time it is unknown what date or time the burglary occurred.

$500 guaranteed reward for the arrest of the suspect!!!
On Sunday, June 20th, 2021, at approximately 1049 pm: the Brookings Police Department responded to an armed robbery that just occurred at 600 6th Street, Corner Pantry (formerly Gas ‘N Mor). Through the course of the investigation, officers learned the male suspect pointed a black handgun at the employee and demanded cash. The employee complied with the suspect’s demand and the suspect fled the store with an undetermined amount of cash.
The suspect fled on foot to the southeast after exiting the store. The employee was not injured and the public is not believed to be at risk at this time. The suspect was described as being a skinny, dark complected Caucasian male, who was approximately 5’ 6” tall and was soft spoken. The employee stated the suspect was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt that possibly had red and white print across the chest. He was wearing a black mask and black pants.
Also pictured is the actual shirt worn by the suspect during the robbery. If you have information as to the owner of the shirt or know someone who owns the shirt and may fit the suspect's description you please contact law enforcement with the information.

****ATTEMPT TO ID BURGLARY SUSPECT****

On Friday, June 18th, 2021, at approximately 9:04 a.m. the Brookings Police Department received a call regarding a burglary that occurred at Brothers Pharmacy, 1004 6th Street. Through the course of the investigation, officers learned a male subject forced open a door and gained access into the business around 10:50 p.m. on Thursday, June 17th, 2021.
Once inside, the male subject stole several prescription pain medications (controlled substances). The male suspect disabled the video surveillance system prior to exiting the store. The suspect appears to be a Caucasian male with short, dark hair. He was wearing eyeglasses and had a surgical type mask covering a portion of his face.

On Monday, June 14th, 2021, at approximately 0200 hours three unknown individuals attempted to enter a closed business in the 700 block of 25th Avenue. The individuals fled the scene once the audible alarm was activated.

On Tuesday, May 20th, 2021, a Brookings resident reported a Lennox Air Conditioner stolen from the outside of a residence in the 2000 block of Fox Run Trail in Brookings, SD. It is believed the unit was removed sometime between April 19th and May 5th, 2021.
